Since moving to Cornwall I've started wild swimming, encouraged and inspired by my friend Helen. Last autumn we ventured onto Bodmin Moor to a deserted and derelict mineworks where there are a series of spring fed pools, namely Carbilly Pools. There were warning signs everywhere but we ventured in and had the most amazing swim followed by an afternoon exploring the area. This painting was created in response to that afternoon; it was accepted into The South West Academy's Open Exhibition where, I'm pleased to say, it found a new home.
