Foreshore - I take a walk along the rocky foreshore outside my house daily, I have three dogs so I walk a lot! During the walk I observe, sometimes sketch, and collect things, ususlly detritus from the sea, discarded fishing nets, bits of plastic... I take what I can back to the studio and use them as markmaking implements. Foreshore is purely based on my observations of the marks, textures, colours and shapes that I see as I walk.
A bit about my process; I start with a base layer of collage. This is arranged mostly intuitively but I always find myself pausing, balancing and rearranging; despite the fact that I know this will be covered up! Then I begin to paint and make marks using my sketches as a reference. The process is repeated along with sanding and more layering until I am happy.
