Goldfinch and Crocosmia

Goldfinch  and Crocosmia - Just because a painting is smaller in size it doesn't mean it took less time to complete. Thats the tricky thing with art, and the reason why a good way into collecting is starting with smaller pieces. The financial outlay is less but you are purchasing something that has had as much care, time and love poured into it as a larger artwork. This artwork is a case in point, it's spent many months sitting quietlt in a cornwer of my studio as I really liked the landscapey vibe of the textured patchwork of green and yellow but wasn't sure how I wanted to develop it and oush it further. As is so often the way, whilst I was working on my larger goldfinch painting I suddenly realised what I wanted to do. It's July and the Crocosmia is blooming magnificently and provides the perfect frame for my goldfinch on it's teasel perch against the abstract patchwork background. Hope you like it as much as I do!
