Beneath The Surface

I'm playing with a metaphor in this painting; the phrase beneath the surface generally implies hidden depths or something concealed. As my paintings are constructed in layers of collage and other media this is physically true. But also I like to suggest that there's always more to see, to notice and to contemplate when you view my paintings. Yes they are landscapes but they are more than that, they are an invitation to the viewer to connect with the painting, and consider possibilities... where does it take them? What memories or emotions does it evoke? What is beneath the surface?

As usual this is a many layered painting, encompassing handprinted and hand painted collaged pieces, acrylic paint, inks and dry media.
