Pink and Green Still Life

Continuing my colour and texture exploration, this time with a still life study of Monstera or, for those of us old enough to remember when it was fashionable in the 1970s, the Swiss Cheese plant! The composition is deceptively simple as the painting has, once again, many layers; hinted at by the background texture. I started with a base of acid free tissue that I stained green with acrylic inks, adhered to a sheet of heavy watercolour paper. Then, using negative painting I created the leaf forms by blocking in the pink background. Handprinted paper forms the vase and I block printed the tablecloth.
