Turning Point
Turning Point
Painted as my submission for The Society of Wildlife Artist's 2024 exnhibition (I exhibited with them in 2022 and 2023) and missed the deadline! Which means I get to enjoy these cheeky birds in my studio instead of hanging in The Mall Galleries!
Turnstones are wonderful shoreline birds. They don't breed in the Duchy but visit from autumn to late spring. This timing probably means "our" Turnstones fly from Greenland. That's a long way from Cornwall! I love watching them scurrying in the breaking surf and flipping the stones that gives them their name, looking for tasty morsals.
They are listed as amber conservation wise. I hope this is a turning point to green and flourishing. Fingers crossed
